Annual Labor Day Fireworks show

Sunday, September 3rd. Just after dark!

Continuing our years long tradition! With Safety in Mind, the causeway will be a great place to park and watch the show with the family from your car, or if you so choose, watch from the Marina. In addition, we’ll have BC Deputies on site to help with traffic safety. Fort McAllister State Historic Park is another great place to watch. The park requires only a $5.00 per car fee and it’s another great place for an evening Picnic with the family. Of course, if you have a boat, the water is an excellent place to safely view the show. This is our way of giving back to the community that has supported us in so many ways over the years – we thank you and hope you enjoy the show!!

Special Thanks to the folks at Southern Eagle GA for making this possible, they’ll be there with plenty of “swag”.

Take Flight: Sunset Bike Hunt

Where: Ft. McCallister

Join our rangers for a short 1/2 mile walk along our beautiful marshes and winding creeks and witness nature at its finest! Watch our flying friends take flight over the setting sun and learn about the world of bats. Hundreds of bats leave their houses every evening to hunt for insects.

There are a lot of misconceptions about bats. They are not rodents; they are mammals – the only mammals that fly! They do not attack humans. In fact, they prefer to avoid humans. However, sick or injured bats may not have any fear of humans. They are not aggressive and less than 1% of bats ever contract rabies. They will bite if they feel threatened so never try to catch a bat or pet it, especially with your bare hands. Bats are nocturnal, meaning they roost during the day and leave the roost in the evening. They are your natural mosquito control!

This program is good for all ages.

Cost: $4 – $7 per person plus $5 ParkPass per vehicle (purchase your annual ParkPass to save all year long).

This is one of four programs offered during our Take Flight Weekend. Attend all four programs for $15.
