What’s Happening in August 2023

If you thought July was hot…..Get ready to set into the fire, we stand on the cusp of another glorious hot Georgia month – August. In this remarkable period, our beloved area transforms into a canvas of colorful events, offering a delightful tapestry of experiences for residents and visitors alike. August in our area is full of Music, Museums, Farmers Markets! Soak up the last bit of Summer, surrounded by friends and family enjoying your area!

Tybee Lighthouse Full Moon Sunset Tours

When: August 1st, at 7:45p.m. to 9:15 p.m.

Where: Tybee Island Lighthouse & Museum

View the sunset from the top of the Tybee lighthouse as it dips below the horizon, then walk to the other side of the catwalk to watch as the full moon majestically emerges over the Atlantic Ocean! This unique opportunity lasts about ninety minutes and includes a walk to the top of the lighthouse, a tour of the head keepers house, and admission to the full site the next day.

​Tickets are $40 and nonrefundable. Children must be 13 years or older to participate. Reservations are required as spots on this small tour fill up quickly. Offered select days May-August. 

Monster Jam 

When: August 4th-6th, at 1:00p.m.

Where: Enmarket Arena

The most unexpected, unscripted and unforgettable motorsports experience for families and fans in the world today revving into Savannah for the first time ever for an adrenaline-charged weekend at Enmarket Arena from Friday, August 4–Sunday, August 6.

Cars and Coffee

When: August 5th, 9:00am to 11:00am

Where: Richmond Hill History Museum

An event for all car enthusiasts! Bring a classic or unique car, meet new people and pickup some helpful tips for your next project. Don’t have a classic or unique car? Bring the family and check out all of the cool rides! Located on the grounds of the Richmond Hill History Museum, formerly the Henry Ford Kindergarten in Richmond Hill, Georgia. First Saturday of each month March – October. Open to the public. Free admission.

La Fete Du Rose Pool Deck Launch Party

When: August 6th, 12:00p.m. to 6p.m.

Where: Thompson Hotel

Join us as we launch the la Fete du Rose Pool Deck at Thompson Savannah with complimentary day passes, DJ Miss Paradise, light bites, cocktail specials, and a raffle to win a Pool Day in our luxurious Cabana and a complimentary Magnum bottle of La Fete du Rose.

Eric Culberson Band Live on the Pier

When: August 6th, 11:00 a.m.

Where: Tybee Island Beach Pier and Pavilion

Creature Comforts presents Eric Culberson Band live on the pier!! Not only will you get great jams and ocean breezes but Creature Comfort’s will be slinging samples and loads of swag! Come on out for a great day on the beach!

Enmarket Arena Pop Up Farmers Market

When: August 9th, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Where: Enmarket Arena

To celebrate National Farmers Market Week, the Forsyth Farmers’ Market is bringing you double the markets! In addition to our regular market in Forsyth Park on Saturday, we’re hosting a special one-time event at the Enmarket Arena! On Wednesday, August 9th from 4pm-7pm you’ll find all of your favorite vendors in this new convenient location. See you there!

Comedian/ Actor Brian T Shirley

When: August 12th, 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Where: Savannah Comedy Revue 

Brian T Shirley has toured the US, Canada, The Bahamas & Japan for over 25 years as a stand-up Comedian.

Brian has also appeared on Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” (2021), the music video “Good Time” from Grammy Winning band “Ranky Tanky”. award winning short films (The Senator, Veterans in Blue) feature films out on Amazon Prime, VUDU & TUBI TV, a stand-up spot for “LMAO”. He’s also been seen in 2 episodes of the TV series “Surviving the Cartel”, various online ads & commercials!

Mozart’s Don Giovanni: A Savannah Opera Production

When: August 12th, 6:30 p.m.

Where: Asbury Memorial Church 

In a time of Savannah’s beginnings, Mozart and master librettist Da Ponte teamed up for this masterpiece adaptation of Don Juan’s last night on earth. Now you can see it live with a traditional production that originated at the Estates Theater in Prague (where the opera premiered). Savannah OPERA brings it to the Asbury Memorial Church with the production’s original directors, Sherrill Milnes and Maria Zouves. Conducted by Andrew Bisantz with a Savannah OPERA Chamber Orchestra. Standard tickets are $35 and premium tickets are $55.

Broadening Your Knowledge of Investing
